UK savoury snacks maker Addo Food Group is to take on 65 new employees at a plant in England to help it meet increased demand during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The company, behind brands such as Pork Farms, Wall’s and Bowyer’s, is to increase the size of its workforce at its Palethorpes bakery site in Market Drayton, Shropshire, in the English Midlands.
Addo said the move is “in response to the increased production demands of the company’s range of savoury products during the Covid-19 crisis, the expansion of new product lines at the site and to support business growth”.
It is looking to recruit line operatives, pack operatives, machine minders, fridge operatives and support operatives.
Deborah Bolton, CEO of Addo, said: “Coronavirus has impacted so many hospitality businesses within the UK and many workers from restaurants, pubs and bars across the country have found themselves out of work – we’re pleased to be able to offer positions within our Palethorpes site which may help ease the financial pressure that a lot of people now find themselves in.”

Addo Food Group, which has five manufacturing sites across the UK, also makes own-brand products for major retailers.
Last July it announced plans to close a facility at Spalding, Lincolnshire, in the east of England, which employed 405 people. The decision was confirmed in December.
