Problems within Arla's UK distribution has hit supply of Danone yoghurts

Arla Foods and Danone have said they are still working on resolving the disruption to the supply of the French company's yoghurts in the UK - caused by distribution problems at the Scandianavian dairy giant's local operations.

There have been shortages of Danone yoghurt products in some UK stores for over a week. A Tweet posted on the official Activia UK Twitter page yesterday evening read: "We are experiencing a temporary supply disruption at the moment and are making every effort to get back to normal as soon as possible."

Arla, which acts as a distributor in the UK for Danone yoghurts including Activia and Actimel, recently moved the handling of the products to a distribution centre in Hertfordshire. It told just-food the switch was a factor in the supply problems. The dairy co-op also cited a "systems interface issue" that had an impact on orders from Danone.

A spokesperson for Arla said: "We are working very closely with Danone on solving the issue."
