CEO David Collard said spices on sale at "accessible price"

UK firm The Bart Ingredients Co. has said it has taken inspiration from "traditional spice routes" in Asia, Middle East and north Africa for the launch of its latest product line.

The range, designed to help retailers "tap into Britain's continuing fascination with exotic foods and unusual flavour combinations", comprises eight variants. The line extends the firm's flagship series of blends and includes flavours such as Piri-Piri and a Punjabi Tandoori Masala.

All products contain only natural ingredients, Bart claims. The company is hoping to capitalise on the predicted growth of the overall market for ethnic foods. According to Mintel, the market recorded a 24% increase in value sales in the four years to 2011 and is predicted to reach GBP1.4bn (US$2.23bn).

"Once again we've brought high quality, authentic blends within reach of everyday cooks at an accessible price," said CEO David Collard. "Our aim is that the spice fixture is where shoppers come for inspiration, for that moment of magic that transforms weekly staples into extraordinary experiences."

The new range will be available in Waitrose stores from 1 November, and Ocado and independent grocers and delicatessens from 1 October, priced at GBP4.00 per tin.

BART® INGREDIENTS DRAWS INSPIRATION FROM ANCIENT SPICE ROUTES FOR AUTUMN COLLECTION

The Bart® Ingredients Co. Ltd has taken inspiration from traditional spice routes in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa for an Autumn collection of blends designed to take food enthusiasts on an inspirational tour of world flavours.

From Tunisia to Bengal, from Japan to Indonesia, the Bart chefs have travelled far and wide to source unusual ingredients, rarely found on the typical supermarket shelf, to create an exciting new range of products that extends the company’s flagship series of blends, presented in the distinctive Bart silver tin.

The new range will help retailers tap into Britain’s continuing fascination with exotic foods and unusual flavour combinations in a way which is easy to use and apply, bringing fresh excitement to everyday ingredients, and requiring only the simplest cooking techniques.

The eight new products feature familiar favourites such as Piri-Piri and a Punjabi Tandoori Masala, containing only natural ingredients, and presented in new formats, such as a dry Harissa blend. It also draws from remote ethnic cuisines to introduce a Panch Phoran blend from the Bengal region of India, Shichimi Togarashi, a Japanese condiment which adds heat to dishes, and Indonesian Goreng.

A 2012 Mintel report shows the overall market for ethnic foods marked a 24 percent increase in sales by value in the four years to 2011 to reach £1.4 billion, having grown by a solid 6.6 percent in 2011 alone.

David Collard, Bart® CEO, said “Our love affair with spicy food continues. New television programmes, street food and an increase in travel to exotic locations means that today’s cooks are always searching in-store for flavours from far away destinations. These new products have been carefully selected to take our range of blends deep into Africa and Asia. Once again we’ve brought high quality, authentic blends within reach of everyday cooks at an accessible price. Our aim is that the spice fixture is where shoppers come for inspiration, for that moment of magic that transforms weekly staples into extraordinary experiences.”

The new range will be available in-store at Waitrose from 1st November, and Ocado and independent grocers and delicatessens from 1st October, priced at £4.00 per tin.

As with all Bart® products, the new Autumn range uses the highest quality ingredients and each recipe is blended in a way that best preserves the flavour and appearance. There are no fillers, artificial colourings or flavour enhancers.
