US food giant ConAgra Foods has appointed banking executive Rajive Johri to its board of directors.

Johri is president and director of First National Bank of Omaha and will join the ConAgra board on 1 January. His appointment takes the number of board members to nine.

Yesterday (18 December), ConAgra also announced a dividend payment of US$0.19 per common share to be paid on 2 March to shareholders of record at the close of business on 30 January.

Earlier this week, the company saw its shares jump after posting a rise in underlying quarterly profits and maintaining its full-year earnings outlook.

ConAgra booked a 27.3% jump in income from continuing operations to US$171.4m for the three months to 23 November.

Second-quarter sales rose 10.6% to $3.26, driven by improved revenue from its commercial foods business.
