Diaz Foods has snapped up fellow US-based supplier of Hispanic foods La Cena Fine Foods for an undisclosed sum.

“La Cena offers the perfect complement to brands we already carry,” Diaz Foods president and CEO Rene Diaz said. “Introducing the La Cena family of brands and expanding the distribution area will allow us to continue to offer superior products and service to all of our customers.”

La Cena’s portfolio, including spices and canned beans, will join Diaz’s range of products sourced from across Latin America.

Based in New Jersey, La Cena was founded in Cuba in the 1920s. The Puig family, which set up the business, moved it to the US in the 1960s.

Diaz, based in Atlanta, was founded in 1980. The family-owned business generates revenues of over US$200m and distributes its products across 24 states.
