Emmi - upped stake in Dutch goat milk firm

Swiss dairy company Emmi has increased its stake in AVH Dairy of the Netherlands to 90%.

Emmi has held 75% of the Bergen-based producer of goat and sheep's milk since 2013. The Swiss firm declined to disclose the price paid for the additional stake and said the remaining 10% will stay with the founder of AVH.

As well as goat's and sheep's milk, AVH manufactures cheese, milk powder and protein concentrates destined for markets in the European Union, the US and Asia.

"Goat's milk products occupy an increasingly important niche in Emmi's product portfolio," the company said in a statement.

AVH is a subsidiary of Emmi Benelux and generated sales of around EUR35m (US$40.7m) last year.

Emmi has been adding to its shareholdings in existing investments in recent months. In January, Emmi raised its stake in Tunisian dairy business Centrale Laitiere de Mahdia. In October, Emmi became the majority shareholder in Mexican cheese business Mexideli
