Sales outside of Europe were up 32%

French vegetable processor Bonduelle has recorded an increase in third-quarter revenue but underlying sales were hit by a slowdown in Europe.

In the three months to the end of March, group sales climbed to EUR451.5m (US$594.3m), a 5% increase on the prior-year period.

On a like-for-like basis, however, sales were down 0.3%. Like-for-like sales, which exclude foreign exchange and changes to the scope of the business, fell 2.9% in Europe to EUR308m.

Sales outside of Europe, however, were up 32% - or by 7.2% on a like-for-like basis -to EUR143.5m.

Despite the "uncertain and volatile" consumption climate, Bonduelle said it was reiterating its forecast of a 7% increase in full-year operating profit.
