Retail chain Food Lion, part of the Delhaize group, has named Brad Smith as vice president of accounting and Paul LaCroix as vice president of dry category management.

In his newly created position, Smith directs the Food Lion accounting department, leads a major portion of the company's ongoing Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program, and is responsible for the SEC reporting of Food Lion's parent company, Delhaize America. He reports to Carol Herndon, Delhaize America executive vice president of accounting and analysis and chief accounting officer.

Smith joined Delhaize Group in 2003, spending the last 18 months as director of group corporate internal audit.

LaCroix gives guidance and strategic direction to several category management teams handling beverages, beer and wine, candy, baby food, bread, pet food, snacks and specialty items. He also oversees Food Lion's category management training team.

LaCroix reports to Meg Ham, senior vice president of dry merchandising. He succeeds Geoff Waldau, who is now Food Lion vice president of merchandising services.

LaCroix joined Food Lion in 2000, serving most recently as director of pricing and private label.
