Food and drinks producers in Indonesia are considering action after a severe drop in the value of the rupiah. Food prices have already risen 15% in Indonesia during January because of weakening of the currency, but now producers are warning that they may have to hike prices further. The chairman of the association of food and beverage producers (Gapmmi), Thomas Dharmawan, has warned however that an immediate price hike would not be because the purchasing power of consumers must be considered.
