Inver Grove Heights, Minn.-based Harvest States Foods, a provider of tortillas and Mexican food products, has announced that James Ferguson has been appointed VP, manufacturing and operations.

Ferguson, whose responsibilities will include manufacturing, operations, quality control, food safety and plant certifications, said: "Being a part of a relatively new business that holds so much potential and so many good people was an opportunity not to be passed up."

Ferguson's food processing experience includes nine years with Pet and later Pillsbury's Old El Paso brand Mexican food products. More recently, he served as a plant manager for Michael Foods.

Initially, Ferguson will draw on that experience to coordinate operations among eight food manufacturing plants acquired by Harvest States Foods since July 2000. Additionally, he will lead operations of a tortilla processing facility currently under construction in Newton, NC.
