Heinz Australia has reportedly bought the licences to manufacture food products under the Cottee's and Rose brand names from Cadbury Schweppes.

The move will see Heinz move into a number of new categories, including jams, spreads, marmalades, maple syrup and instant puddings, local reports have suggested.

Although the company declined to comment on the specifics of the deal, a Heinz spokesperson told just-food today (1 June): "Australia is an important market for us. As such we are always looking for ways to expand our product offering, and this can mean moving into new categories."

Under the agreement, Cadbury will continue to use the Cottee's brand to market cordials.

The financial details of the transaction, which is expected to be completed next month, have not been released.
