International foodservice franchisor Hot Stuff Foods has launched a new range of Mac's Market "restaurant quality" packaged foods specifically targeted at the convenience sector.

With decreasing tobacco sales and increasing fuel costs, convenience store operators in the US have been searching for ways to boost revenues and Hot Stuff believes that it has the answer.

"Mac's Market is the perfect option for retailers challenged by minimal labour and retail space," said Des Hague, chairman and CEO of Hot Stuff Foods. "It offers QSR (quick-serve restaurants) quality food in a self-serve packaged product to consumers. This allows franchisees to open a high-end merchandising unit at a small cost within a small space and without additional labour."

Consumers select the Mac's Market packaged food that they want and then heat it in the microwave themselves, Hot Stuff said.

To develop the Mac's Market range, the company invested heavily in NPD and the construction of a USDA-certified manufacturing plant. The range includes over a dozen items - from pizzas and subs to breakfast items. With 68% of Americans eating on the run in their cars, the hallmark of Mac's Market is a hand held pizza item called The Gripper.

"Hot Stuff Foods understands that many retailers have little space and few staff to dedicate to foodservice labour, yet they want to increase their revenues. Mac's Market is the solution for these business owners and it can be up and running for only US$1,000," Hague said.
