ecFood (www.ecFood.com), a pioneer in web-based software for sourcing and bidding for the food and beverage industry, appointed e-commerce and food industry veteran, Joe Buchanan, to
the newly created position of Vice President of Corporate Development.  With over 15 years of experience in sales, food packaging and e-commerce, Buchanan will be responsible for establishing strategic alliances with key industry leaders and associations, plus identifying funding opportunities.

"Joe's in-depth knowledge of both the food industry and e-commerce matches ecFood's overall business functions and focus," said Dave Laukat, CEO of ecFood. "His ability to forge strategic alliances will strengthen our objective in providing web-based software and services to the food and beverage industry."

Prior to joining ecFood, Joe was vice president of sales and business development at Buyerlink Networks, where he defined and developed four marketplace products for the dairy and beverage industries.  Joe gained his extensive understanding of e-commerce in context with the packaging industry when he served as vice president for Portola Packaging.  In this position, Joe was responsible for the development and implementation of Portola Packaging's spin off, Sand Hill Systems, which was an e-commerce enabler/ASP focused on the dairy and beverage industry.
