Karro Food Group, the UK pork processor, is to add 140 staff to its plant in Scunthorpe as it prepares to meet increased sales in 2016.
The company also plans to invest GBP2m (US$2.9m) in upgrading the site, including on new machinery. The facility makes bacon and gammon products for retail and foodservice customers.
Karro said it expects to see “a significant increase in retail sales commencing in 2016”.
The factory employs around 200 staff. The new employees will join in two phases, with the first wave to arrive next month and the second between April and June.
Last year, 90 positions at the Scunthorpe plant were axed. Reports at the time said the cuts had come after the loss of a contract to supply bacon products.
