Kez's Kitchen said consumers had asked for on-the-go options

Australian firm Kez's Kitchen has developed gluten-free cereal snacks to cater for demand for on-the-go lines after it launched a breakfast cereal last year.

The family-owned business has introduced a range of cereal snacks, bites and bars.

The company also said two of the lines are low in fructose and certified as "FODMAP-friendly", suitable it said for consumers suffering from symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. The so-called FODMAP diet has been proposed as a way to reduce the symptoms of IBS.

MD Michael Carp said: "While cereal based, these snacks and bites aren't strictly a breakfast food. When our cereal first launched in Coles last year, we were flooded with emails from customers who enjoyed it so much, they would eat it throughout the day – we knew then that the snack range had to become a reality."

Kez's Kitchen has secured listings in Woolworths and Coles for the new products.

Sydney 25 October 2013. Snacks on the go just got easier for gluten-free Aussies Eating on the run is never easy – especially when your diet excludes gluten. Australia’s leading, premium biscuit, cereal and snack brand, Kez’s Kitchen, has grown its popular Kez’s Free range with six new gluten-free cereal snacks, bites and bars.

From convenient original and low-fructose gluten-free cereal snacks (6 x 30g) and tasty cereal bites (8 x 15g) to delicious Florentine bars set to have mouths watering (5 x 30g), the expanded Kez’s Free range will ensure those who suffer from gluten intolerance will never again compromise their diets on a busy day.

Kez’s Kitchen is an Australian family business that prides itself on being ‘all about the taste’. What started as a kitchen-based business in the family home supplying chocolate-chip cookies and other indulgent treats to cafes and small gourmet retailers, has today grown into a leading, premium biscuits, cereal and snack brand supplying to the major supermarkets, Qantas flights and premium cafes.

Among the newly launched cereal snacks, two are Low in Fructose and certified FODMAP-friendly – ideal for those suffering from symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) – and the first FODMAP-certified products of their kind available in major supermarkets.

To create the FODMAP-friendly cereals and snacks, Kez’s Kitchen worked directly with leading dietician and nutritionist Dr Sue Shepherd, founder of the FODMAP diet. Through her pioneering PhD research[i], Sue proved that limiting dietary FODMAPs (food molecules that can be poorly absorbed) is an effective treatment for people with IBS symptoms.

Kez’s Kitchen has created snacks that can be integrated into any FODMAP diet without compromising on their quality or taste.

“Being gluten intolerant, I established the Kez’s Free range, because I couldn’t find premium, tasty biscuits and cereals that were gluten free,” said Michael Carp, owner and Managing Director of Kez’s Kitchen, who joined his mother and sister to run the family business in 1994. “While cereal based, these snacks and bites aren’t strictly a breakfast food. When our cereal first launched in Coles last year, we were flooded with emails from customers who enjoyed it so much, they would eat it throughout the day – we knew then that the snack range had to become a reality.”

Taking inspiration from their popular Florentine cookie, Kez’s Kitchen’s new Gluten-free Florentine Bars come in delicious roasted peanut and apricot, and roasted almond and cranberry flavours, both of which are expected to quickly become a favourite snack in the health aisle.
