Swedish conglomerate Lantmännen has named deputy CEO Per Olof Nyman as its interim chief executive after the departure of Per Strömberg to retailer ICA.

Nyman, Lantmännen's deputy CEO and CFO since 2008, will be its CEO until a permanent successor is appointed. Strömberg who announced his departure yesterday (19 October) is expected to take up his position as CEO of ICA by April.

Lantmännen chairman Thomas Bodén said Strömberg is leaving the retailer "more profitable, focused and well-known than it was four years ago" and congratulated ICA on appointing "a good choice of leader".

Strömberg said: "It's been a great privilege to run a company that is owned by Swedish farmers and that works throughout the value chain, from field to fork."
