Japanese c-store retailer Lawson is installing equipment to charge electric vehicles at  its stores as part of plans to cut carbon emissions by 10%.

The chargers are to be used for its own fleet of 40 electric vehicles as well as its customers.

Lawson installed chargers this week at five shops in Tokyo and two in Osaka Prefecture. Customers can use these chargers for free.

The company said it is now on track for a planned overall CO2 reduction of 60,000 tons this year compared with last fiscal year.
