Snickers Crisper launched in two formats: single, made of two pieces; and funsize

Mars Inc has unveiled a raft of snacks and confectionery products for the US market, including Snickers Crisper, at the NACS trade show in Las Vegas this week. 

Snickers Crisper combines crisped rice and peanuts topped with a layer of caramel and coated in milk chocolate and will be on shelf by December this year.

"Snickers is the top-selling and fastest-turning item on shelf, so shoppers will be eager to pick up new Snickers Crisper," said Tim LeBel, vice president of sales for the company's Mars Chocolate North America division. "This new item, along with new M&M's Crispy Candies, answers consumers' desire for new textures, which has created a crispy crunchy segment within the chocolate category."

Confectionery is the category most responsive to good merchandising, according to LeBel, so secondary displays are vital for retailers.

Other new products revealed by Mars include Combos Baked Snacks Chocolate Fudge Pretzel, featuring a fudge filling surrounded by a pretzel shell, which will be launched next month; Dove Chocolate Fruit & Nut, a combination of fruit and spiced nuts covered in Dove chocolate in three flavours, which will be hitting the shelves in December this year, and M&M’s Brand Crispy Chocolate Candies, to be launched in January 2016. 

All of these products will be available via all retail channels in the US.
