Mars Inc has launched a line of “healthy” chocolate snacks in the state of Colorado.

GoodnessKnows snack squares have initially been launched in Boulder, Colorado and will be introduced to consumers in Denver in April.

The snacks are available in three flavours; Very Cranberry, Almonds & Berries, and Roasted Nuts & Grains. Each four-square serving contains 150 calories, two to three grams of fibre, three grams of protein, 200 mg of cocoa flavanols and 20-35 mg of sodium.

“If we can get a stamp of approval from Colorado’s discerning, health-conscious consumers, then consumers everywhere should embrace this new snack,” said Suzanne Stites, cocoa flavanol platform leader for Mars Chocolate North America. “This area is world-famous for its emphasis on − and appreciation of − healthy living.”

The snacks contain whole almonds, fruits and toasted whole grains covered in chocolate, and contain no artificial ingredients, colours or flavours, Mars claimed.

GoodnessKnows are available in single servings and multi-packs and sell for a suggested retail price of US$1.59 and $4.99 respectively.
