Mars Inc has announced plans to “reinvest” US$70m in its US supply chain, with the creation of around 250 jobs at sites across the country.

The Dove maker said the move will ensure “more than 95% of Mars’ chocolate products for the US are made here”.

Tracey Massey, president of Mars’s North American chocolate business, said yesterday (30 March): “This investment will create new American jobs in communities across the country while also enabling us to offer more product innovation, choice and transparency to our consumers.”

Mars said the announcement is in line with a commitment made last year to invest more than $900m in its US supply chain “on top of its previous $1bn investment”. These investments include $50m to expand its Wrigley’s Yorkville facility in Illinois to add production of Skittles candy “leading to a 25% increase in jobs”. The group also “updated” a factory in Greenville in Mississippi “through a $31m investment that has created more than 25 jobs”.
