US condiments and spices manufacturer McCormick & Co. has appointed Lawrence Kurzius to the newly-created role of chief operating officer and president.

Kurzius has worked for McCormick for a decade, including stints as president of the company’s US consumer business and president of its international operations, which took in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, China and Asia Pacific.

The group said Kurzius would “have responsibility for McCormick’s businesses worldwide”. He will also lead the company’s global quality, supply chain and R&D corporate functions and hold two other roles – president of its global consumer operations and president of its North American arm.

Malcolm Swift, president of McCormick’s operations in EMEA and Asia Pacific Zone, will take on and additional role of president the company’s global industrial operations.
