US fastfood chain McDonald's has said Claire Babrowski, senior executive vice president and chief restaurant operations officer, has resigned after 31 years with the company.

Babrowski, 47, had served as senior executive vice president and chief restaurant operations officer since 2003. In this role, she had oversight responsibilities for Australia, Canada and New Zealand, as well as management responsibility for the operational components of the "People, Products and Place" strategies of the company's Plan to Win. This includes worldwide operations development, site development, equipment systems, menu management, research and development and training.

The company said it expects to name a successor for this position after the New Year.
