Swiss food giant Nestlé has come under fire in China for allegedly selling products including gene-engineered ingredients without the appropriate labelling.

This is in direct contravention of domestic law, reported the Shanghai Daily

Six products from Nestlé, including snacks, chocolate confectionery and milk powder, were found by environmental campaign group Greenpeace to contain unlaballed GM organisms.

An official at the Shanghai Agricultural Bureau confirmed that no application to sell GM food had been received from the Swiss group.

Nestlé is expected to make a statement this week.
