Paper-Pak Products Inc., an industry leader in absorbent products, is setting new standards in the packaging industry with the UltraZap® Supersorb®, a superabsorbent soaker pad.

This innovative soaker pad uses a superabsorbent polymer manufactured by Stockhausen. The superabsorbent polymer, FAVOR-PAC 100(TM) ensures dryness and protection against leakage and contamination, even under pressure. Currently, it is the only superabsorbent polymer approved by the FDA for poultry and meat packaging applications.

UltraZap Supersorb expands upon PaperPak's already successful UltraZap technology. Launched in 1991, UltraZap was the first pouch-type soaker pad made of tissue instead of traditional fluff and sealed on all four sides.

"PaperPak has always been committed to advancing technology in line with the food packaging industry's requirement for high performance and reliability," said Rich Beu, recently appointed vice president and general manager of global packaging and materials operations for PaperPak. "UltraZap Supersorb is another addition to our family of products that meet the unique needs of all our customers."

PaperPak has led the industry with numerous "firsts" including the addition of Sensormatic's Ultra-Max® anti-theft tag hidden within the layers of UltraZap products. The use of antitheft tags has proven to be an effective means of reducing theft. This anti-theft option allows retailers to maintain their current packaging processes without any additional labor costs.

For nearly 40 years, Paper-Pak Products has supplied the healthcare and food packaging industries with quality products that are both innovative and environmentally friendly. In support of PaperPak's concern for quality, all food-packaging products are certified with the Kosher-Parve seal of endorsement.

Today, PaperPak is one of the largest independent manufacturers and marketers of a full line of adult incontinence and other absorbent products in the United States. With the addition of Wyant Health Care and the Attends brand in North America and Europe, the company will generate annual sales expected to be nearly $400 million.

Stockhausen, the leading manufacturer of superabsorbent polymers in the world, is a division of Degussa Huls, VEBA AG and manufactures more than 80 specialty chemicals for a variety of markets worldwide.
