Pilgrim's Pride has announced that its chairman, Lonnie Ken Pilgrim, is to become interim president of the company until the board appoints a new president and chief executive following the death of O.B. Goolsby Jr., who had been president, CEO and a director of the company, earlier this week.

In an SEC filing, the leading chicken processor said that Pilgrim's compensation had not changed as a result of his interim appointment.

The company also said that it had formed a committee of directors to undertake the search for a new president and CEO. The Search Committee comprises Lonnie Ken Pilgrim, S. Key Coker, Keith Hughes, Blake Lovette and Vance Miller, Sr.
