Pladis has unveiled a "super-premium" range of chocolate bars in the US and online under G by Godiva sub-brand.

The Mexican single-origin milk and dark chocolate bars include a 42% milk chocolate product, with "hints of white flowers, peaches, apricots and vanilla" and a 68% dark chocolate bar "with hints of licorice, plums and tobacco". The bars retail at US$7 per bar.

Godiva chef chocolatier Jean Apostoulou said: "We created this collection with the spirit of a master mixologist in mind, inventing an array of vibrant flavours to blend with the Mexican origin cocoa beans. We wanted to ensure that every bar would take chocolate lovers on a special journey of taste and texture."

Godiva is part of Pladis, the recently-established snacks subsidiary of Turkish conglomerate Yildiz Holding. Its stablemates including UK-based biscuit maker United Biscuits and Turkey-based snacks business Ulker.

Earlier this month, Italy-based confectioner Ferrero confirmed it had made a formal bid to acquire Belgian biscuits maker Delacre, which is also part of Pladis.
