French ready-meals firm Cofigeo saw its sales rise by over 7% in the first quarter of 2010 thanks to a rise in inventories among certain clients.

Cofigeo, which makes ready meals under the Raynal, Roquelaure and Zapetti brands, booked first-quarter sales of EUR37.6m (US$47m), a rise of 7.1% on the year.

The company said it had benefited from customers deciding to boost inventories in January. The group said the market for ready meals fell by 2.9% in volume terms in the first quarter of the year.

Looking ahead, Cofigeo said it would look to support its range of Zapetti pasta sauces to push the reputation of the line in that category to a similar level to its Raynal & Roquelaure and Zapetti brands in ready-meals.
