The marketing director of UK supermarket chain Safeway, Karen Bray, has resigned after ten years with the company.

Bray’s departure comes as takeover target Safeway tries to prevent key staff from leaving during the current period of uncertainty for the company, reported Marketing.

Bray joined Safeway in 1993 as advertising and promotions controller and was promoted to marketing director in 1999.

Her responsibilities will be taken on by Martin Pugh, current director of marketing operations.
