US snack maker Snyder’s-Lance has announced plans to to expand its Baptista’s Bakery facility in Franklin, Wisconsin.

It is to spend US$7.8m on building renovations, as well as machinery and equipment upgrades. The project is expected to create 125 additional jobs.

Snyder’s-Lance is being supported in the venture – to the tune of $300,000 – by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), via the authorisation of state income tax credits.

Baptista’s Bakery was established following the sale of Gardetto’s Bakery to General Mills. in August 1999. Snyder’s-Lance, the US’s second-largest salty snack maker, acquired Baptista’s in 2014.

The Franklin facility is a 135,000 sq ft plant built in 1997 on 26 acres of land.

Baptista’s manufactures sheeted and extruded snack products. These are baked, low-in-oil, salty or sweet snacks made primarily from potatoes, corn, rice, oats or wheat.
