The Sysco Corporation, the largest foodservice marketing and distribution organisation in the US, has named Kenneth F. Spitler executive VP, foodservice operations. Spitler, who is currently executive VP, redistribution and northeast region, will assume his new position effective 1 January 2003.

In 1995 he returned to the Houston operation as president and CEO, and in 2000 he was named senior VP, operations, northeast region, with responsibility for Sysco companies in Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Spitler was named to his current duties in February of 2002, with additional responsibility for managing the company's redistribution operations, a role he will continue.

Spitler is a 1971 graduate of the University of Tulsa, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy.
