Tesco Ireland is to cut up to 300 jobs as part of a review of its operations, according to reports.

The retail giant has established a 'Scale' unit in a bid to identify areas where it can save "millions of euros".

The exercise is expected to see 200-300 jobs cuts in its purchasing, strategy and information technology sectors.

Tesco is understood to have put a number of Irish properties on the market, and hopes to raise around EUR210m through sale and leaseback deals.

The company was unavailable for comment as just-food went to press.
