France the first European market for The Coconut Collaborative

The Coconut Collaborative, a UK maker of yoghurt made from coconut milk, has secured listings in France.

The company said three lines will be sold in 70 Franprix and 75 Monoprix outlets from the middle of this month. By the end of June, two frozen Snowcount yoghurts will also go on sale.

The business was set up last year by nutritionist Steve Bessant and James Averdieck, the founder of UK desserts business Gü.

Averdieck said the brand was the first coconut milk yoghurt launching on the market in France. "Our expansion marks the next chapter for The Coconut Collaborative and we believe the French market is prime for healthy alternatives to every day food choices. Our range of chilled and frozen products harnesses every nutritional benefit the milk has to offer, as well as the incredible taste," he said. "This is just the start of wider roll out in France, with other major retailers set to launch in the autumn."

About The Coconut Collaborative:
The Coconut Collaborative was founded in 2014 by 2 guys on a mission to spread the coco-love far and wide by bringing together like-minded coconut companies, sharing delicious and surprising coconut treats with the world, and giving something back to the planet and its people…making some tasty yoghurt along the way.

Steve Bessant is a leading expert in neuromuscular therapy and nutritionist with a high profile clientele. Obsessed with the life-giving properties of coconuts and their power to fuel the body and help the planet, he created the Coconut Collaborative with the help of James Averdieck, Founder of Gu. Also a card-carrying disciple of the super-drupe, James believes that pleasure needn’t be sacrificed in the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.

About coconut
Coconut milk contains essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that supply a host of benefits to the human body. About a third of coconut flesh is fat (and about 92% of this fat is technically classified as saturated) but it is mostly made up of short- and medium-chain fatty acids that are used as energy and not stored as body fat like long-chain fatty acids found in dairy milk. Once vilified, coconut milk is now appreciated and the popularity of coconut milk is on the upswing.
