US bakery business BakeMark has acquired Best Brands from its former parent CSM Bakery Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition includes the brand and product portfolio.

BakeMark, based in Pico Rivera, California, provides ingredients and products to the food industry via a network of distributors and manufacturing centres.

CSM Bakery Solutions sold BakeMark to Pamplona Capital Management in July.

Minnesota-based Best Brands' lines includes bakery mixes, fillings, icings, as well as frozen bakery products, and these will join BakeMark's portfolio of brands which include Westco, BakeSense, BakeQwik, Trigal Dorado, C'est Vivant and Sprinkelina.

Best Brands supplies its products to large, regional grocery chains for them to be finished at store level.

Jim Parker, president and CEO of BakeMark, said: "We are excited to integrate another industry-leading brand into BakeMark's portfolio of brands, and even more excited at the growth opportunities it will deliver to our customers.

"This acquisition supports our ongoing efforts to create value for our customers and build our brands and markets in the coming years."
