Consumers from across the UK are set to sample the best of Welsh food and at this year's BBC Good Food Show, which is being held from November 29 - December 3 at Birmingham NEC.

The Welsh Food Experience Pavilion, which is being managed by the Welsh Development Agency Food Directorate, will feature some of Wales' best food and drink companies.

Top Welsh chefs will also be demonstrating throughout the five days, offering visitors a chance to find out more about Welsh food and sample some distinctly Welsh menus.

The BBC Good Food Show is one of the top UK consumer events, with over 400 exhibitors showing a massive variety of new food and drink products.

WDA agri-food director Wynfford James said it was vital for Wales to have a strong presence there. "This is all part of our efforts to put Welsh food and drink on the map - we want consumers to discover the diverse range of quality products Wales has to offer, and what better way than to see it cooked by some of our top chefs," he said.

Leading the team of chefs will be Angela Gray, star of BBC TV Wales' 'Hotstuff' and 'More Hotstuff'. Angela, former chef to Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber, will be demonstrating a range of recipes - all using Welsh produce. Examples include 'Laverbread with mushrooms, leeks and Carmarthen Ham'; 'Festive Welsh Pork Pie' and 'Welsh Saltmarsh Lamb with Pickled Samphire and Garlic Beans'.

Other chefs displaying their talents will be: Graham Tinsley of the St David's Park Hotel, North Wales; Colin Gray, chef/lecturer at the University of Wales, Cardiff; Trefor Jones, a former Masterchef of Great Britain, who works in South Wales; Nick Davies, head chef at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells; Kate Morgan, food and craft officer with Pembrokeshire County Council, and Wayne Roberts, chef at Tre-Ysgawen Hall on Anglesey.

There will also be a Welsh Food Experience competition - offering top prizes including a weekend break from Mid Wales Tourism; hamper of Welsh produce from Cegin Cymru; gift pack of liqueur from Celtic Spirit Co; bottle of Condessa Welsh Cream Liqueur; £25 of Welsh Lamb and £25 of Welsh Beef; mini hamper and tea caddy from Welsh Brew Tea.

Companies displaying include: Welsh Brew Tea; Cegin Cymru (Welsh Kitchen); Celtic Spirit Company; Condessa Welsh Cream Liqueur; Direct Welsh Lamb; Welsh Lamb and Beef Promotions Ltd. Mid Wales Tourism will also be there as part of the Welsh Food Experience area, promoting Mid Wales as a unique holiday destination.
