UK confectioner Wrigley has launched what it claims is a first for the company with the roll out of a mixed Skittles and Starburst bag.

Available across all channels, Wrigley said it is hoping to tap into the "massive potential" of the fruit fun-sized bag sector in the UK with the launch, which is growing at 8.7% year-on-year, according to figures from Nielsen.

"With Skittles and Starburst driving sales of the fruit confectionery market, this is the perfect time to launch a fun-sized mixed bag," said Wrigley confections business unit director Matthew Austin.

The product has an RRP of GBP1.99 (US$3.20).

Wrigley Launches Skittles and Starburst Fun-Sized Mixed Bags

For the first time ever, Wrigley is launching a NEW Skittles and Starburst mixed bag this month, which is available across all channels. Providing an excellent opportunity for retailers to generate sales and profits, the new pack will capitalise on consumer demand for variety, by giving shoppers two of their best loved sweets in just one bag.

Both Skittles and Starburst are performing exceptionally well, with Skittles the fastest growing fruit Confectionery brand in the UK MAT value sales of £32m and is in 46.7% growth year on year.
