Reformulated Petits Filous on sale in Waitrose store

General Mills-backed yogurt business Yoplait has made changes to the recipe of its Petits Filous line on sale in the UK.

Petits Filous yogurts will contain less sugar and more vitamin D. The new yogurts will go on sale by the end of the month, the company said today (25 November).

The level of sugar in Petits Filous will be reduced to 9.9g per 100g. The company said one serving of Petits Filous - which it said equated to two small pots - will now contain 9.3g sugar.

Yoplait said the moves meant it had reduced the sugar in Petits Filous by 17%, which it described as "a significant contribution" towards the voluntary target set earlier this year by the UK government for sugars in yogurts on sale in the country to be reduced by 20% by 2020.

Marketing director Richard Williams said: "For the past decade we have been gradually lowering the sugar levels in our products to allow consumers to become accustomed to a less sweet taste. With the latest recipe formulation, we have been able to go even further with improving the nutrient profile of Petits Filous, by reducing sugar, and increasing the levels of vitamin D from 25% to 50% nutrient reference value. However, we know our work is not yet done, and we are continuing to work hard to explore further ways to reduce sugar even more."

Yoplait said "further decreases" across the portfolio were planned including on its Frubes line.
