Lotus Bakeries has started building another hall at its principal manufacturing site in Belgium as the snacks group looks to increase output of Biscoff products.

The company said it would begin producing in the new building at its site in Lembeke "within two years".

The project will increase capacity at the Lembeke factory, which mainly supplies markets in Europe. Biscoff has been produced at the site for more than 90 years. Lotus Bakeries declined to comment on how much capacity would rise and on how many new, full-time jobs would be created.

The group has factories in Thailana and the US that make Biscoff products for markets in Asia-Pacific and the Americas.

In a statement, Lotus Bakeries CEO Jan Boone said the “expansion feels like a very natural next step in the globalisation of Biscoff”.

The move follows a strong 2025 for the company, with group revenue growing 10% to €1.35bn ($1.57bn). Operating profit increased 13% to €227.6m. Net profit grew 13% to €172.3m.

Sales of Biscoff, which accounted for 57% of the group’s branded revenue, reached €670m in 2025, up 13% organically.

Lotus Bakeries said its sales were supported by volume growth and its partnerships with Mondelez International.

The company shipped the first biscuits from its new greenfield plant in Chonburi in Thailand last year, with the site due to be fully operational by the end of the first half of 2026.

In commentary published alongside the results, Boone said: “Capacity investments continue to be a priority in our capital allocation strategy. For 2026 and 2027 combined, we plan to invest approximately €250m in capital expenditures, slightly above the €240m invested over 2024 and 2025.”
