Partly egged on by the hen-keeping antics in a certain reality television show shortly to hit UK screens for the fifth year running, we are seeing a proliferation of urban chicken-coops.

To tap the trend, some smarty-pants at the Royal College of Art have dreamt up the Eglu, an iMac-style plastic hen house designed to help urban dwellers with small backyards recreate the rural idyll.

It’s no yolk, folks. Especially not with so many urban foxes around.
