The UK has struck a deal to export beef to the Philippines, more than two decades after shipments were banned due to concerns over BSE.
The south-east Asian country accepts UK pork, poultry and lamb exports. London said the deal, agreed after inspections last year, would be worth GBP34m over five years.

UK industry body The AHDB described the Philippines as “the largest food and drink market in south-east Asia”.
It said UK pork shipments to the Philippines grew four times between 2015 and 2016, with pork offal shipments rising by 40% in the same period. Meat consumption in the country is expected to grow by 10% over the next five years, it added.
George Eustice, the UK’s food minister, said: “Securing market access for our world-class beef to the Philippines is a huge vote of confidence for a sector that already exports more than GBP350m (US$455m) around the world.”
