Wessanen, the Netherlands-based food group, has signed a new deal with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) for its Kallo single-serve snacks to be sold in all 250 NHS Trust cafes and shops.
“This new deal with the NHS Trust presents a great opportunity for us to increase brand awareness and offer patients, visitors and staff the chance to pick a healthier snack choice,” Hayley Murgett, Kallo brand controller within Wessanen’s UK arm, said.

“We were selected because we can tick many boxes for the NHS – our range is gluten free, suitable for vegetarians and low in calories, which means it suits a range of customer needs. We are delighted to have secured this deal and look forward to working with the NHS going forward.”
Wessanen said Kallo’s range meets the standards of the NHS’ Commissioning for Quality and Innovation unit, which is focused on improving the health of both patients and staff. The company already supplies the NHS Trusts with its UK gluten-free brand Mrs Crimble’s, which are also given away free to blood donors along with a cup of tea.
The Kallo range available in the NHS will include rice cake Thins – both the milk and dark topped variants – sundried tomato and herb rice cakes, sea salt and vinegar rice cakes and caramel rice cakes.
