The value of the acquisition was not disclosed. Lomond said the deal “will bring together both companies’ existing customer bases”.

Lomond, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this month, said it has “built its success on supplying cafes and sandwich bars with premium chilled and frozen products, while Hall’s Direct has focused on the convenience retail sector as well as restaurants, butchers and hotels offering fresh meat and poultry, retail ready meals, retail breakfast products and a full chilled foodservice range”.

Lomond MD Sam Henderson said: “We are absolutely delighted to begin the next chapter in the evolution of Lomond. Our strategy to grow the business quickly has been realised and the whole team is looking forward to the coming months as we integrate the two businesses.”

The acquisition will increase Lomond’s workforce from 104 to 160 and its fleet of dual temperature delivery vehicles will go from 21 to 40, the company said.
