As part of the contract, Scolarest is investing in new services and improving existing facilities for the University’s 17,000 students and 1,200 members of staff.

At the main University campus, a major refurbishment programme by Scolarest has created a 120-seater continental-style café serving Upper Crust baguettes, Tastte! sandwiches and Ritazza coffee as well as hot food. Other services provided at here include a staff common room deli bar, and a 250-seater restaurant offering Caribbean and other culturally diverse food options and a salad bar.

A brand-new café has been launched at the School of Architecture and Interior Design which previously only had vending facilities. The restaurant at the Stapleton House Business School has also been transformed with a new deli bar offering hot food and a separate ‘grab and go’ outlet. At the James Leicester hall of residence, where Scolarest provides evening meals for 200 students, the company has introduced a range of exciting new menus.

“The refurbishment and upgrading of existing catering outlets, combined with the creation of new facilities, represents a significant improvement in the student experience,” said David Everett, head of campus services at the University of North London.  “I am looking forward to a long and beneficial association with Scolarest.”

Scolarest MD Mike Bond added: “Fashions in food are changing all the time, but for too long students have been given boring, old-style refectory fare in uninspiring settings.  Scolarest believes they deserve better and is committed to providing students with the dynamic eating environment and exciting choice available to them on the high street.

“We’re delighted to be introducing our innovative food offers at the University of North London following the award of this important contract.”
