US prepared foods producer Home Market Foods has bought local nutrition snacks brand Perfect Fuel for an undisclosed sum.
The company said the takeover of the maker of Perfect Fuel Dark Chocolate Energy Bites marks its entry into the “quickly-growing functional food market, which has doubled over the past four years”.

Home Market Foods produces fully cooked and frozen meat-based meals, appetisers and snacks for both retail and foodservice under the Cooked Perfect and RollerBites brands,
Both companies are based in Massachusetts.
Perfect Fuel was established in 2011 by co-founders Nicolas Warren and Miles Masci with the launch of their “active lifestyle snack brand based on the delicious and healthful properties of the world’s number one superfood – chocolate”.
The company said its “single serving, nutrient-dense, simple ingredients are the focus that drove the successful national distribution to active-nutrition consumers demanding more clean and transparent products”.
