Danish food and nutrition group East Asiatic Company (EAC) has said that it has increased its share of the nutrition market in China.

The company said new market data from A.C. Nielsen indicates that the EAC-owned International Nutrition Company’s (INC’s) market share is developing positively throughout China.


INC is the biggest and most profitable business unit within EAC Nutrition and reported net sales of US$115m in 2003 following years of consistent double-digit growth.


EAC said that in the Shanghai region, INC’s overall share of the milk-powder based nutrition market grew by nine percentage points from February to June and stood close to 44%.


In the four city regions of Shanghai, Chengdu, Beijing and Guangzhou, INC’s overall market share stood at 26.7% in June, up 1.3 percentage points from full-year 2003.
