Furbish joined FreshDirect in October 2003 as chief operating officer. The company also announced that Steve Michaelson has been appointed president. Michaelson joins FreshDirect from Weis Markets where he served as senior vice president of marketing and merchandising.


It was also announced Jason Ackerman, co-founder of FreshDirect, will continue in his role as chief financial officer, and take on the additional role of vice chairman of the company’s board of directors.


Founded in 1999, FreshDirect is an online fresh food manufacturing and delivery service in the New York area.
