“The new deal is important because it is a long-term, five-year contract,” he told just-food. Previous contracts had not been long-term, the spokesperson added.

In a statement, Miratorg said it would supply “agreed” volumes of “semi-finished” products to Burger King. The spokesperson said Miratorg would be supplying beef and poultry lines to the fast-food operator but declined to comment further.

Alexander Linnink, Miratorg’s chairman, said: “The long-term partnership between Miratorg and Burger King is an important moment in the development of the Russian restaurant market.”

The Miratorg spokesperson declined to provide figures on the percentage of the company’s sales that are made through Russia’s foodservice channel.
