Del Monte Foods is to close a vegetable processing site in North Carolina, a move affecting 230 full-time staff and 92 seasonal employees.
The plant, located in the town of Turkey, was part of parent company Del Monte Pacific’s acquisition of US produce group Sager Creek last year.

The facility produces lines including sweet potatoes, spinach, white potatoes and squash.
Manufacturing will cease immediately and Del Monte said it will transfer production to its other US sites. Warehouse activities will continue for an interim period. Once these activities are completed, the entire facility will be closed.
Del Monte Foods said: “This timely decision will allow Del Monte to consolidate and streamline operations to meet customer driven quality demands.”
