Mondelez International has announced it is “potentially” axing 82 jobs at a site in Belgium.

The cuts will take place at its local head office in the Belgian city of Mechelen and involve administrative roles.

No production is to be affected, a spokesperson confirmed to just-food.

The decision comes as Mondelez carries out plans to “standardise our way of working and create shared service centres”, a strategy the company announced a year-and-a-half ago, she added.

Mondelez has entered a consultation phase with its social partners and works council.

“Depending on how these discussions go…the goal is to implement the restructure in 2017,” the spokesperson said.
