US soup maker Campbell Soup has reported a rise in its fiscal third-quarter profit, helped by a 10% rise in US wet soup shipments.
 
The New Jersey-based company posted third-quarter net income of US$129m, or 31 cents a share, compared with $96m, or 23 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

Analysts had forecast earnings per share of 26 cents to 28 cents, with a consensus estimate of 27 cents a share, according to Reuters Research.


The company has been trying to reformulate its line of traditional soups and has also been developing more convenience products.
