French poultry producer Doux has been hit by a fire at one of its plants.


The Doux’ Pere Dodu plant in Quimper, Finistère, was partially destroyed by a fire that broke out yesterday [Monday]. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control and workers were sent home for the day.


An area of some 250 square meters was damaged. Pre-cooked poultry products are made at the plant, which employs around 400 staff, reported Agrisalon.


Group Doux operates in 100 countries, employing more than 15,000 in over 57 industrial units and generating an average annual turnover of €1.6bn (US$1.963bn).
